Slow Food

Slow Food is an educational organization with 65,000 members worldwide. Throughout 45 countries, each local convivium across the globe is dedicated to stewardship of the land and ecologically sound food production; to the revival of the kitchen and the table as centers of pleasure, culture, and community; and to living a slower and more harmonious rhythm of life. Slow Food recognizes that the enjoyment of wholesome food is essential to the pursuit of happiness; respects and supports food artisans, growers and producers; and promotes pure foods that are local, seasonal and organically grown. The Slow Food Education Committee is embarked on a nationwide program of creating school gardens modeled after Alice Waters' Edible Schoolyard.
